The UIC Office of Career Services offers an unpaid practicum/internship experience for students completing a Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, or Student Affairs. Each year there are two intern slots available and each intern will have an individual office and laptop.
Applications are accepted beginning January 15th of each year for practicum/internship experiences to start approximately September 1st. This is a two semester, 700 hours, experience typically running Fall semester (September – December) and Spring semester (January – May). If necessary to complete school and/or licensure requirements, interns may adjust hours and/or extend their experience into Summer semester (June-August).
During the practicum/internship experience, interns may have the opportunity to conduct individual counseling and advising, co-lead a career exploration group, engage in outreach and educational programing, and contribute an original resource or program to the offerings provided by the UIC Office of Career Services. Interns will become knowledgeable of the resources and service provided by both Career Services and Student Employment and use that knowledge to serve current UIC students and recent alumni who graduated within one calendar year.
Oversight of the program is provided by a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.
